Inauguration Day

January 20, 2009 at 5:35 PM (Inspirational, Politics)

Like many Americans, I listened to the inauguration this afternoon while working.  In case you missed the inaugural address, I have the video at the bottom of this post in addition to another wonderful video.  I’m excited about the coming years and wish I were in D.C. amidst all of the excitement.

Our friend Steven sent me the link to the White House’s new website that I thought I would share with all of you.  The White House will now have a blog and we are all invited to participate.  Check it out here.  Incredible promises are brought to the forefront in the first entry:

“President Obama has committed to making his administration the most open and transparent in history, and WhiteHouse.gov will play a major role in delivering on that promise. The President’s executive orders and proclamations will be published for everyone to review, and that’s just the beginning of our efforts to provide a window for all Americans into the business of the government.”

“One significant addition to WhiteHouse.gov reflects a campaign promise from the President: we will publish all non-emergency legislation to the website for five days, and allow the public to review and comment before the President signs it.”

I look forward to seeing these promises put into action.  Change can happen.
