Meat Thermometer and Ben on Board

January 6, 2009 at 8:00 PM (Food, Simplifying Life, Weight Loss)

A couple of months ago Ben and I purchased our first digital meat thermometer.  Let me tell you, it was a great investment.  Our friend Gary is a firm believer which is how I was first really introduced to them.  They are great because you simply insert the thermometer probe in the center of whatever piece of meat you are cooking and leave the display sitting on top of the oven.  They are connected by an oven safe wire.  You tell the device what temperature you desire and it beeps when the meat reaches that temperature.  It saves energy (from opening and closing the oven) and takes away all of the guess work.

We purchased ours at Target for around $16.  We have a Taylor TruTemp model which apparently didn’t get great reviews on Amazon.  We haven’t had any problems with it yet.

In other news, Ben has decided to get on board with the idea of us losing weight which I first mentioned yesterday.  I’ll be posting his weight changes along with mine.  We walked 2 laps around the neighborhood again tonight and Ben decided to walk some more afterwards.  He’s on the treadmill as I write this! 🙂

We hope you are all having a lovely week!
