Free Christmas Gifts for Each Other

December 23, 2008 at 3:10 PM (Family, Friends, Holidays, Saving Money)

Ben and I have decided to give each other Christmas gifts that don’t cost any money.  We started talking about the idea 1 month ago.  The idea is that we would both create a list of “free” gifts we would like from one another.  We will have a “Stephanie Day” and a “Ben Day.”  On “Ben Day” I will carry out Ben’s wishes that he stated on his Christmas list and he will do the same on “Stephanie Day.”

For your amusement, I have listed 2 things from each of our lists.  There were more items but we thought we’d spare you.  Also, some of them are private. 😉

Stephanie’s List for Ben:

  1. Thoroughly clean all 3 toilets
  2. Make all meals

Ben’s List for Stephanie:

  1. Lord of the Rings marathon with beef jerky and Coke
  2. Make all meals emphasizing Ben’s favorite foods

As you can see, this should be interesting. 🙂  We’ll let you know how it goes.  We will set aside 2 days over the next 1.5 wks to carry out our wish lists.

On a more serious note, have you thought about “free” gifts that you can give from yourself to others?  I truly believe that the gift of time, whether it be in person or on the phone, is one of the best gifts that you can give someone.  The gift of time can be applied many different ways.  For example, you can lend an ear to someone who is lonely, lend a hand to a friend who needs help with a project, listen more than talk, give your undivided attention to someone without being distracted by computers and TV, and invite someone over with nowhere to go for Christmas dinner.  The list is endless.

With Love and Thankfulness for Our Friends and Family,

Stephanie
