Managing Daily Blogs

December 1, 2008 at 8:07 PM (Simplifying Life)

In the past few months I have become a huge fan of reading blogs.  It all started with one of my favorite blogs The Simple Dollar and has exploded ever since.  It’s amazing to see how many people write high quality, informative blogs full-time.  Some people watch TV in the evenings to relax, well, I read blogs.  You can check out links to some of my favorite blogs in the right side bar under “Stephanie’s Favorite Websites.”

How do I manage all of the blogs that I like to read on a daily basis (25+ blogs)?  Well, I use an awesome Firefox add on called Morning Coffee.  To use Morning Coffee you first need to use Firefox.  If you aren’t already using Firefox shame on you.  After you install Morning Coffee, you will see a coffee cup icon added to your internet toolbar.

This icon allows you to add any website that you are viewing to your “morning coffee.”  Your “morning coffee” is essentially a list of blogs that you like to read on a daily basis.  When you select the coffee cup icon on your toolbar, the websites that you like to view on a daily basis are loaded.  Each website is given its own tab.  You can specify whether each site appears every day of the week or only on specific days of the week (e.g. Monday only or Tuesday and Thursday only).

Morning Coffee eliminates having to browse through your bookmark list or manually type URLs into the address bar.  Keep in mind that you can use Morning Coffee for site besides blogs.  You can use it for any websites that you like to view on a daily basis (e.g. bank websites, news, stocks/finances).

I hope you find it as useful as I do!
